Marianito is a small app for capturing shared aperitif moments with the people you're actually with. If something isn't working, or you need to tell us about a person or a post, this page is the way in.

We're a small team, so a real person reads every message. We reply to most things within a few working days, and to safety reports within 72 hours.

If your message is about someone's safety, please put "urgent" in the subject line.

Reporting something, and blocking someone

You don't need to email us to do either — both are in the app.

To report a moment, a photo, or a comment: open it and tap the … menu on that post or comment, then Report. The report tells us which piece of content it's about, so we can act on it without having to ask you.

To block someone: the same … menu has Block, or long-press anyone in the people list. A blocked person disappears from your lists and searches. You can undo it under Settings → Blocked accounts.

What happens next. We review every report within 72 hours. We may remove the content, remove the account, or both. What you write reaches us immediately — it is never shown to the person you reported — and reporting someone in good faith never counts against you. The privacy policy lists the services that carry that alert to us.

You can also use Settings → Report a problem for anything that isn't tied to a specific post.

Common problems

The sign-in code didn't arrive

Marianito has no passwords — we email you a six-digit code instead.

1. Check your spam or junk folder. This is nearly always where it is.

2. Check the address you typed, including for autocorrect.

3. Wait a moment before tapping "Resend code". There's a short cooldown between emails to the same address, so an immediate second tap may do nothing.

4. Still nothing after a few minutes? Email us and we'll look at it.

The code is for one sign-in and expires. If it's been sitting in your inbox for a while, request a fresh one.

I can't post my moment

A table needs at least two people — you, plus at least one other person seated at it. That's the whole idea: Marianito records a shared moment, not a solo one. Tap a face in the strip on the home screen, or open the people sheet and add someone. If they're not on Marianito, type their name and add them as a guest.

You'll also need a photo and, if you want one, a caption.

Someone I don't know tagged me at a table

You get to say yes or no. When somebody who isn't already your friend tags you, it arrives as an invitation at the top of your journal — who tagged you, where, and when. There's no photo on it, so nobody can put an image in front of you to get an answer.

Accept and the moment joins your journal and you become friends. Decline and you're removed from that table entirely: you won't appear on it, it won't reach your journal, you don't become friends, and that table can't ask you again. Either way nothing is posted in your name in the meantime.

Being tagged by someone you're already friends with works as it always has — no invitation, the moment is simply yours too.

It says a word isn't allowed

Text you post is checked against a list of prohibited terms before it's saved, so captions, comments, place names, display names and guest names are all covered. If something is refused, reword it and try again — nothing was posted and nothing was stored.

If you think it's a mistake, tell us. We match whole words rather than fragments, precisely so ordinary words don't get caught, but no list is perfect. Email us with what you were trying to write and we'll fix the list.

A photo shows a patterned tile instead of the picture

That placeholder means the photo couldn't be loaded. Usually it's a connection problem — try again on a better connection.

If a photo you posted a while ago has gone permanently blank, it may have been picked before a fix we shipped for this. We're sorry; there's no way to recover it, and re-posting is the only option. Marianito is in beta and shouldn't be the only copy of a photo you care about.

Nobody shows up as nearby

"Nearby" needs several things to be true at once, for both people:

• Use my location is on, in Settings.

• The app has been open recently — we only read your location while it's on screen, never in the background. A position is ignored after 45 minutes.

• You're genuinely close — within a few hundred metres.

• The other person hasn't turned off Share my location with friends, which hides them from your Nearby while leaving their own view working.

Nobody ever sees your coordinates. The app tells people "nearby" and nothing else — not where you are, not how far away, not in which direction.

The map is blank, or has text stamped across the tiles

A blank map usually means no connection — the pins still show, but the map imagery doesn't load. Text stamped diagonally across the tiles means the app is misconfigured on our side, not yours; please tell us which build you're on.

What's "Marianito Hour"?

A moment gets a badge if the table was opened at 1pm local time — the traditional hour for a vermouth before lunch. It's decided when the table opens and doesn't change afterwards.

Your account and your data

Changing your name, username, or photo — Settings, at the top.

Privacy switches — location starts off, and you choose. Saying yes to Use my location means two things together: we read your position while the app is open, and people can see you're nearby. Share my location with then picks who those people are — everyone near you, or friends only. Turning Use my location off stops your position being read, stops you appearing in anyone's Nearby, and deletes the position we've stored.

Can people find me? Yes — anyone using Marianito can find your profile by name or username, like most social apps. That's separate from being seen as nearby, which is the setting above. To stop one particular person finding you, block them.

Deleting your account — Settings → Delete my account. It's immediate and permanent: your profile, photos, journal, stored location, friendships, settings and the guests you created all go. Moments you started are removed for everyone who was at those tables; moments where you were only tagged stay for the others, without you.

Getting a copy of your data, or correcting it — email us. We reply to these within 30 days. What we hold and why is in the Privacy Policy.

Marianito is in beta

Things break, features change, and data may occasionally be reset while we build. Please don't treat the app as your only copy of a photo that matters to you. If you hit something broken, telling us is genuinely useful — email hello@megamindlabs.ai with what you were doing and what happened.
