Marianito is an (actually social) social app made for sharing and saving moments spent around the table. No feed, no scrolling. Co-author posts with your loved ones and save them to a shared photo journal. Track your tables on the map to see all the places you've shared a drink or a bite to eat at, and with who.

Marianito is a social app that focuses on saving moments spent around the table. The app opens to a call to "set the table", not a feed. Marianito is designed to be scroll-less, and action oriented: co-author a post, view your past tables, or explore the map of where you've sat. No likes, no followers, no doomscrolling: just memories.

Before diving into the app design, we sat with the brand and asked how Marianito should be. The name Marianito comes from a Basque vermouth-based cocktail that is typically enjoyed at the apperativo hour, just before lunch. With this history and cultural context, we wanted to pay homage to the logomark of the app. We took inspiration from the baldosa (tile) of Bilbao, the de facto capital of Basque Country.

The brand identity that followed carried the Basque sentiment throughout. We used a custom font by a Basque artist, JON ZABALEGUI, as the brand primary font. We defined and designed a custom illustration style to use throughout the app and brand.

The core flow of the app is "setting the table"—seeing which friends are nearby, selecting them, adding a photo, location, and caption. This creates a co-authored post between you and the friends you've tagged.
